New distribution records of Chrysomya pacifica and Chrysomya schoenigi (Diptera: Calliphoridae) from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India

Abstract : The genus Chrysomya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, comprises of species of medical, veterinary and forensic importance. Many species are responsible for causing myiasis and spread of pathogenic bacteria. Because of their role in spread of diseases and in solving post-mortem interval in homicidal cases, it has become imperative that their biogeographical distribution should be monitored on regular basis. Of the 36 known species from the World, 12 species are known from India. Herein, we report two new records namely Chrysomya pacifica and Chrysomya schoenigi from India along with updated key to species of the above-mentioned genus.
