Analysis of the effect of ecological factors on Ophisops elegans (Menetries, 1832), Lacerta strigata (Eichwald, 1831), and Tenudactylus caspius (Eichwald, 1831) (Reptilia: Sauria) in Azerbaijan
Abstract : The study revealed that the length and width of freshly laid eggs of the lizards do not depend on the maternal snout–vent length or the surrounding ecological conditions. No significant difference was observed in the size of the eggs laid by small and large females. When lizards are kept for extended periods under stable and high-temperature conditions, the number of helminths in their bodies increases, negatively affecting the animals. In these species, the lungs are connected to the heart through connective tissue, and their volume changes with heartbeats. During hibernation, although cardiac activity weakens, the airflow in the lungs partially continues. Adult Tenuidactylus caspius individuals care for their offspring from the beginning of embryonic development until they reach sexual maturity.
